Salem Film Fest: Come to Salem, See the World
March 3-10, 2016

Salem Film Fest is ready to begin this week for the ninth annual event with over 35 documentary films to screen. Once again, Bobbie Bush Photography is a proud business sponsor of this unique and very special cultural happening.

Salem Film Fest is one of New England’s largest documentary film festivals and presents a rich and diverse collection of films from all over the world. The film fest “Come to Salem, See the World” is so true! Each and every year, the documentary films selected by the all-volunteer members of the film fest represent an extraordinary range of subjects and locations from around the globe.

Opening Night: March 3, 2016

Kicking off the film fest on Thursday March 3rd is Curious Worlds: The Art and Imagination of David Beck. The Massachusetts premiere of this film will be at 7:30pm on Thursday evening March 3rd at the Peabody Essex Museum. Following the screening, the filmmakers will be present for an open Q&A discussion. Advance tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online, or at the Cinema Salem box office.  As the opening act, this film is anticipated to sell out.

This year, films to look forward to might include Driving with Selvi, a story about the first female taxi driver in India or Mully, a rags to riches story about an orphaned Kenyan boy who goes on to found the largest children’s rescue organization in Africa. Or plan to see The Babushkas of Chernobyl, recounting the tale of three unlikely heroines living in the most toxic place on earth.

Plan Ahead with Advance Tickets

Our best advice is to plan ahead and get your tickets in advance. All the films have preview trailers online, so you can decide which stories most resonate with you. If you are a true film buff, you might just consider an all-film pass, or the weekend pass to see as many films as possible. For more information, visit the Salem Film Fest website for dates, times and ticket sales. Most films have the filmmaker present at the screenings.
