Bobbie Bush Moves to Lydia Pinkham in Lynn MA

Portrait Studio Moves to Lydia Pinkham in Lynn MA

The studio is on the move! After 20+ years in Salem, the studio is moving to the artists building at historic Lydia Pinkham Laboratories. The move takes place in early December 2019. Located less than five miles from the prior location, on Western Ave in Lynn, MA, it is easily found on Route 107, with plenty of on-street parking. The new studio location will be in great company, surrounded by creative entrepreneurs and working artists. There is even a terrific organic cafe located on the ground floor.

Artists & Creative Entrepreneurs

The new studio is in a building filled with artists and creative entrepreneurs. Painters, photographers, ceramic artists, mixed media artists, jewelers, glass blowers, and many others. Creative small businesses to just name a few include… Talkie Records, a recording studio, Couture Planet, a uniquely up-cycled handbag company, and Uncommon Feasts, an organic cafe/caterer on the first floor.

Why move?

The building at Shetland Park changed ownership in May 2019, and my lease was up for renewal. The decision was made to relocate the studio and move to an artists building. While I will miss the Salem waterfront, I welcome the creative influences to come from a new and exciting environment. Official move-in date is the first week of December.

Who was Lydia Pinkham?

The history of this building is fascinating. Lydia Pinkham was one of the earliest American women entrepreneurs. She started her business in 1875 launching a medicinal potion to cure the ills of women’s monthly complaints. During the Victorian era when women rarely trusted their male doctors, women turned to domestic herbal remedies from their friends and neighbors. Her “vegetable compound” was created from a combination of herbal ingredients and 19% alcohol. Needless to say, the product succeeded and was privately manufactured long after Lydia’s death, until the company was sold in 1968. You can still buy the product in a modified form today on amazon.
