In today’s global marketplace, we live in a world of social media, personal profiles and one to one business relationships. It’s more important than ever to have a professionally photographed profile portrait for your LinkedIn account and business website.
Worried about having your portrait taken? Relax. Let us help you to enjoy the process. Besides, we are experts at retouching so you will always look your best!
For men, we recommend a medium to dark suit jacket, or if you are not wearing a jacket, you should wear a shirt color other than white, since we are shooting against a white background. For women, we recommend a top with a simple neckline (scoop neck works well) with minimal jewelry. The simpler the better. Solid colors are best for women’s tops. In general, we find that the better fitting and more tailored the suit jacket, the more professional the portrait — and that advice goes for men and women.
Generally, we recommend solid color tops with no large designs or logos. Choose colors which contrast the skin tone, keeping away from pale colors which can tend to wash out the face. Darker colors will bring the attention of the viewer to your face and your expression rather than to your clothes. Wearing a color which compliments your eye color is great way to go, too.
Modeling headshots needed for comp cards frequently involve more clothing changes than a single headshot. Bring several changes of clothing, from casual to dressy. We’ll take close up headshots and full length body shots. Models typically select two to three additional image files beyond the standard single image headshot package.
Yes, absolutely. You are welcomed to bring two to three changes of clothing in order to represent a variety of styles.
The studio is located in the Lydia Pinkham building on Western Ave in Lynn, MA (on Route 107), just south of the Salem line. Be sure to see the directions page for more complete information.
A single professional portrait headshot package runs $350 (see the special offers page for deals!) for the session plus one fully retouched high resolution digital file for use in print and/or web. Bring a colleague and save… the second person scheduled back to back is only $150 additional. [Save even more by coming during our headshot special for $250, which typically runs during the winter months.]
The session fee pays for Bobbie’s time during the session and one finished, retouched high-resolution print file for use in print and/or web. We will see results instantly on the computer as the session takes place. The session continues until we obtain the very best image.
Individual headshot sessions take place in the studio in Lynn, however we are also available to come to you in the workplace to photograph your entire office staff (inquire with us for a budget estimate).
Most sessions run approximately 30 to 60 minutes. Typically, we take a few rounds of photographs, review our results together on a monitor, and see which expressions or poses work best. Then we make adjustments to achieve your best shot. It is a very collaborative process and can be lots of fun.
The standard background we use is white. In our experience, the white background is best for headshots with its clean colorless background adaptable for most web and/or print uses. If you let us know in advance, we can set up an alternate background, in beige, brown or grey.
It works best to arrive with your hair styled in a way that you are comfortable with it. Some clients prefer to go to a stylist before the session; others prefer to style their hair on their own. Make-up should be light and natural looking. A light foundation, blush etc. to even out skin tones is perfect. If you wish us to hire a stylist for your shoot, please let us know and we can arrange this added service, but it will be more economical for you to make the arrangements with someone you already know. A few local resources in the area for makeup application are Laura Lanes Skin Care and Rouge Cosmetics.
Yes. We’ll photograph your session using color, but can preview the images in both, to see which expressions, poses and clothing looks best with each. Your final selections can be prepared as color and/or black & white files.
While in the studio, you’ll have a chance to preview the images on the computer monitor. We work together to narrow down your favorites, comparing images side by side. If you need the valued opinion of a colleague, spouse or professional acting coach, we are able to post your top selections to a temporary web gallery in order to reach your final selection.
You can choose as many as your budget allows. Your session fee includes one finished, retouched image to disc with unlimited usage rights. Any additional digital image files are also available for purchase.
Once you make your selection, we generally take no more than three business days (often sooner) to retouch and prepare your finished digital file, and will deliver via email and/or Dropbox.
We often work with companies that need several executives photographed in a single business day and we bring the studio to their office. Generally, this works well if you have a workplace of busy professionals where it is worth the extra budget to have us come to you. Contact us for an estimate if this interests you.
You can see some past examples of client headshots that were posted to the blog. You’ll see a sampling of studio headshots of children and adults, with some professional portraits used for business purposes, and others for modeling and/or actors or performers.
