There are times when it makes most sense to come to you — at your home or at a location which best describes who you are or holds more meaning to you. In some instances, being in your own environment can be easier to facilitate the coordination of everyone being on time for the portrait and being fully present.
We are happy to discuss which outdoor location suits you and your family best, which will also be an ideal natural environment for creating a beautiful family portrait to grace your home.INQUIRE NOW

There are two favorite outdoor waterfront locations in Salem. One is Winter Island, the other Forest River Park, both lovely municipal waterfront parks, right here in Salem, boasting natural landscapes from sand to seagrass to multi-colored rocks. We often think of these locations as our ‘outdoor studio’.
We reserve specific dates throughout the summer season when we know the ocean tides and the quality of light is just right for your portraits. These portrait sessions are generally held weekday afternoons & early evenings approximately one hour prior to sunset.INQUIRE NOW

Often, we look for a time of day that allows us the best light. Our favorite natural elements include plenty of open shade, such as big leafy trees. The best expressions come when our subjects are relaxed in the soft light, away from any harsh direct sunlight. Open shade allows for open eyes — and we want to see those beautiful eyes!INQUIRE NOW
I know I have my favorite locations. I am happy to share a few places around the north shore of Boston which are great for family portraits.
In many cases the location and time of day depends on the ages and agility of the family members, or if you want to include the dog. We’ll take into consideration the quality of daylight and keeping out of the direct summer sun that is so harsh. Let’s discuss what makes most sense for you. In the meantime, check out some of the favorite outdoor spots around the area.FAVORITE LOCATIONS

How do you know what size is the right size portrait for your home? Are you having trouble visualizing the proper size portrait art for the walls of your home? Is a 16×20 big enough, or does it make more sense to display a 30×40? Perhaps you might wonder if there is room on your wall for a grouping of three or four portraits. These tools can help!
In our experience, a well planned session yields the best results. Talking with an experienced family photographer and knowing what clothes to wear, what to expect and to choose the best time of day for the family members who will be participating in the session is all part of the process.
Our desire is for you to have the best experience possible. We strongly suggest that we set aside a planning session, either in person at the studio or over the phone in advance of your session. Be sure to review our Clothing Guide and our Frequently Asked Questions page as well.
